Jubilee AD 2000 The Holy Year to be celebrated in the year 2000 will be one of the biggest in history and many millions of pilgrims from across the world are expected to flock to Rome as Christianity celebrates its 2,000th anniversary. Many of the religious visiting the Eternal City will also want to make the relatively short journey to the Marche to visit Loreto one of the world's most important shrines to the Blessed Virgin, as well as a host of lesser known but popular religious sites across the region. In association with the Episcopal Conference of the Marche, the Marche Regional Authority is planning a series of initiatives to help pilgrims visiting the area during Holy Year including the Jubilee Ways, detailed itineraries following ancient pilgrim routes to Rome.
